According to what provided by the Rizzoli Organizational Regulation, the Forensic Medicine function is embodied within the Medical Direction (3.1.5.1 Medical Direction).

Objective of Forensic Medicine is to implement the preventive function provided by Law 24/2017, art. 1 (Art. 1 Safety of cures in Healthcare: 1. Safety of cures is a constitutive part of the right to health, and is pursued in the interest of the individual and the collectivity. 2. Safety of cures is realized also through the totality of activities addressing prevention and management of risks connected with the provision of healthcare services, and the proper utilization of structural, technological and organizational resources).
